AMG responds in times of need at home and abroad

Faced with emergencies such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding, AMG International's disaster relief ministry stands ready to provide desperately needed assistance when the need arises. AMG International has a long history of disaster relief. In fact, AMG was born in the 1940’s to help provide for the needs, both physical and spiritual, of war-torn Greece during and following World War II.

In more recent history, the country of Myanmar (Burma) was devastated in May of 2008 by Cyclone Nargis, with estimates of up to 130,000 dead and many more losing everything they had. AMG had the advantage of already having ministry contacts in the country, with permissions already in place, and was able to start providing emergency assistance almost immediately.

AMG responded in Haiti in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake in January, 2010, helping provide safe, drinkable water and cholera treatment. The Thailand flooding of November 2010 provided yet another opportunity for AMG to be involved with sharing the compassion of Christ by meeting physical as well as spiritual needs in areas where AMG had already been working for years. 

Closer to home, when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, AMG was “on the ground” as soon as possible, focusing on key relationships the Lord had given us to help meet long-term needs in Louisiana and Alabama.

In May of 2011, after a series of tornadoes swept across the Southeast, AMG partnered with two local churches to help support disaster relief efforts right on our own doorstep, in North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee.

Disasters strike without warning, and without hesitation. They come suddenly, and sometimes these tragedies never even make the news. But the needs are real. The crises are real. Your gift will help disaster victims rebuild their lives and their communities.
