Coming to Know Christ in Haiti

AMG has been ministering in the extremely poor country of Haiti in a variety of ways. In addition to childcare, AMG has helped to establish a medical center that is being used in wonderful ways. It was a particularly needed and effective ministry in the recent cholera epidemic that struck this island nation.

Pastor Rodné Romeus, who directs AMG’s outreach in Haiti, recently sent us a letter that illustrates how God is using this ministry to draw people to Him. Below is Pastor Rodné’s letter.

Dear brothers and sisters who are praying with us, in Haiti. We had a wonderful service this morning, July 3, 2011, at Baptist Church of Grand-Bassín. We preached the Gospel from Acts 2:37–47. We taught the people the importance of: a) perseverance; b) the fear of God; and c) the solidarity (Unity).

It is a great privilege for me to tell you how happy we are to have a sister who accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior during the worship service this morning. She said, ‘I used to go to Catholic Church, but I realized that I was following the wrong way. It is my decision to follow the best way. That’s why I come to the church so that the leaders can show me the way to Jesus.’ She continued to say: ‘During the cholera time, I was very sick and I was on a bed at Bethesda Medical Center. Pastor Rodné shared the Gospel with me and I could see in him the sign of Christian love. Today, I want to say yes to Pastor Rodné. Please, show me the way’.

As she said, I met her at the medical center when she was very sick and I shared the Gospel with her. This morning, I was happy to see her coming to prove the fruit of a seed sowed. I praise God for that. Her name is Mrs. Exalès Saint Phar. She has nine children and her husband living with her. We hope that she will bring this big family to Jesus.

I also praise God because He continuously uses the Medical Center to bring people to Him. That’s why we are praying to be able to give more services to the population as it will be a good occasion to bring people to Christ. Please continue to pray as we have great desire to put the roof on the lab building and do some other works. Thank you to all those who already support us. May God continue to bless you all!

Please pray for Pastor Rodné as he leads AMG’s outreach in Haiti and particularly for the ministry of the medical center.
