Ministry Milestones
A timeline of notable events from AMG's various ministry endeavors.

1942 -  Founded as “The American Committee for the Evangelization of the Greeks” in New York City.

1946 -  Spiros Zodhiates appointed Executive Director. “Dr. Z” became President of AMG in 1966, and would serve in that capacity until 2005.

1950 - AMG’s first radio program is broadcast on WGCB AM in Red Lion, PA.

1951 - “New Testament Light” radio program launched. This Bible study broadcast ministry would be expanded to include a television program in the 1980s and 1990s, and the radio ministry would continue until 2008.

1958 - Newspaper Evangelism ministry begins with Gospel ads published in Greek newspapers and magazines.

1958 - AMG begins producing the radio broadcast, "A Look at the Book" with Rev. Austin L. Sorenson, which would continue until 1979.

1970 - AMG India established under the leadership of S. John David.

1974 - Name changed to “AMG International” (Advancing the Ministries of the Gospel) to reflect the ministry’s global scope.

1975 - St. Luke’s Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece opens. Expanded in 2005, St. Luke’s today is a 270-bed, state-of-the-art facility serving Northern Greece and the Balkans.

1975-79 - AMG ministries launched in Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines.

1975 - Pulpit Helps magazine for pastors launched. In 2010, PH became Disciple magazine, an internet-based, bi-weekly e-publication.

1976 - CLW (Christ, the Light of the World) Communications Group established. This subsidiary of AMG owned and operated a number of radio stations, a television production studio, mobile equipment for video production in the field, and CLW Electronics, an audio/video equipment sales and service division. CLW ceased operations in 2007.

1978 - AMG moves international offices to Chattanooga, TN.

1980 - AMG Publishers division launched to provide ministry outreach through the written word.

1984 - Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible first published; over 1 million copies sold since then.

1994 - Kadyum Hospital opens in Rajahmundry, India to serve the needs of leprosy sufferers.

1996 - Paul Jenks appointed CEO. Mr. Jenks was appointed President in 2005 upon the retirement of Dr. Zodhiates.

2004 - AMG opens the Cosmovision sports ministry center as a ministry base during the Olympic Games in Athens. CVC continues to be an active, multinational ministry center 

2009 - After a long and fruitful ministry, Dr. Spiros Zodhiates passes away at the age of 87.

2010 - After successfully reaching out to the lost in Muslim countries for more than a generation, AMG takes media evangelism to a whole new level through the use of internet banner ads.
