Giving Sight to the Blind in India

We recently received an update from Arun Kumar, AMG India Director, where AMG India’s ministry reaches more than 100,000 people each month with the support of partners in the US and Europe.

Brother Arun writes,

Here, by the grace of our Lord, all projects of AMG India are running well. All AMG schools and colleges have been open for the school year since the first week of June. It was a busy season since many poor parents approached AMG with the hope of admitting their children in AMG programs. By the kind grace of our Lord, AMG schools provide good education along with complete personality and character development, as we teach the students Christian morals and principles.

As you are aware, with the support of AMG International, we are providing monthly food and help to nearly 1,200 leprosy patients from different villages in the East Godavari district. These leprosy patients along with their children are able to live with dignity because of AMG’s assistance and are blessed because they are cared for physically and have a chance to hear the Gospel from AMG national workers. Many of them have committed their lives to our Lord Jesus Christ. Now they have the hope of resurrection, not as deformed and handicapped persons, but with spiritual bodies as children of God. These leprosy patients are also happy because AMG is helping educate their children in AMG schools.

AMG’s Kadyum Eye Hospital is running smoothly. The comprehensive eye care services have grown significantly year-by-year. This hospital is providing for the treatment of the cornea, cataracts, glaucoma, vitreous-retinal problems and low vision rehabilitation. The poor villagers in the area come to the hospital for treatment, which is free. Besides the free check-ups and surgeries, if necessary, food is provided to the patient and also the attendant. We also give them free medicines and glasses. When they need surgery, we are removing the cataract and implanting lenses.

As a result of the surgeries, these patients are able to regain their lost sight and confidence. Our national workers meet with them every day in the hospital and teach them about Jesus Christ and reiterate to them that they are receiving help because of Christ’s compassion and love for the poor and needy. Every month we conduct about 150 cataract surgeries. They are able to believe that Jesus loves them because they are in a position to taste God’s love. This helps them believe that our Lord is a living God. Many of the patients come forward for the national workers to pray for them.

God is using AMG in India to touch some of the most needy people anywhere. Please pray for this ministry, for our coworkers, and that many will come to know Him as Lord and Savior as a result.

Advance with compassion the command of Christ to evangelize and make disciples around the world through national workers and in partnership with like-minded Christians
