Child Sponsorship Increasing to $28

The personal financial world for most of us is being stretched thin. Gasoline prices are high, and we can almost see, hear, and feel the costs of most everything else going up around us. Jobs are becoming harder to find, and more and more people are finding themselves out of a job. Yes, times are becoming more difficult.

Yet, we still live in the most prosperous country in the world. We still enjoy a house, a car (often more than one), we still eat regularly, we have TV, and probably cable TV, and there’s a good chance we have a cell phone.

The AMG-sponsored children NEVER had even one of those things. So when times are tough for us, times are DESPERATE for them.

The situation in some AMG childcare centers has become critical. We have had to face head-on the increased cost of food and services at the 74 AMG childcare centers in 14 countries of the world. Financial conditions rapidly deteriorated this year at many AMG childcare projects because the cost of rice doubled in less than a year, prices for most commodities and services increased significantly, and the value of the U.S. dollar decreased in relation to many foreign currencies. The result was that the AMG childcare centers were not receiving enough U.S. dollars from us to fulfill all of our (and your) expectations of providing food, education, medical, and other services for the children.

After much prayer and soul-searching, we have realized that the only answer is to institute an increase in the child sponsorship level from $25 to $28 each month. This will become effective on January 1, 2009.
