Bukoto Child Development Center

The Bukoto Child Development Center is located in Kampala, Uganda. Many of the children are orphans from the surrounding slums area. Most of the families are poor, with one source of income from manual labor and petty jobs. AIDS is sweeping the country, causing many children to be orphaned, leaving them to roam the streets without food and clothing. The religious climate in Kampala is a mixture of Protestant Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam. In 1997, the Bukoto Childcare Center was established to provide education, nutritious food, and health care to the children. The children attend the center on Saturdays to learn Bible stories, eat meals, memorize Scripture, and play games. Foster families in the community take care of many of the orphaned children. National workers at AMG help families raise their children and provide guidance. Hope is shining through and many are coming to faith in Christ through the Bukoto Childcare Center.
